Sunday Salon for 3 March 2024
Happy Sunday! Sunday Salon is hosted by Deb at ReaderBuzz. Check out her post and the links to see what other bloggers have been up to in the last week.
How’s the weather?
March is coming in like a lamb, but only for the first three days. We’re still getting wild temperature fluctuations. The high temperatures on the first three days of March were upper 40s, upper 60s, and upper 70s, respectively. On Monday we’ll begin a week of unsettled weather with a chance of rain most days but more stable temperatures.
What are you reading?
I finished listening to The Dutch House by Ann Patchett. It’s hard to distinguish whether I liked it on its own or because Tom Hanks read it, but I did enjoy it.
I tried another audiobook after that, but it didn’t work for me. That might be because The Dutch House is going to be hard to follow. So, I’m searching for another.
I finished Day by Michael Cunningham and will write a review next week. My next e-book is Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir.
In print, I’m reading Jane Crow: The Life of Pauli Murray by Rosalind Rosenberg. That’s for my book group. I’m really excited about it because I learned about Pauli Murray last year when I researched Washington, DC in 1943. I was shocked, then, that I didn’t know more about her and now I get to learn!
What are you watching?
I was slow getting to Good Omens 2 on Amazon Prime. I should have started earlier. Now I have to endure commercials or pay more money. Sigh. I heard someone say that we’re in the Wild West of streaming services. The current situation doesn’t feel sustainable for customers, creators, or providers, but I’m not sure what the alternative will bring.
Our favorite movie this week was The Unknown Country, starring Lily Gladstone who is currently more famous for her role in Killers of the Flower Moon. I got The Unknown Country on DVD from the library — a sustainable option for entertainment.
What are you doing?
I published three blog posts!
The Top Ten Tuesday topic was fun asking for books with titles or covers that feature nature.
For only the second time on my blog, I reviewed a YouTube channel for British Isles Friday — Emma Cruises, where I learned all about modern British cruising and a little about the history. (The first time was J. Draper who makes videos about London history).
For the first time on my blog, I participated in Book Blogger Hop. I’m not sure why I haven’t done that before. Many of the prompts are fun ones that I can answer quickly — although this first one turned into a research project because I found an error on the internet.
How are you this fine Sunday?
