Last week, I enjoyed The Other Bennet Sister, a sequel to Pride and Prejudice that tells Mary’s story. I also shared my Six Degrees post since every book in my chain had some link to the British Isles.

I’ve picked up a few tidbits from blogs, commenters, and research that I thought I would share so that we can all look forward to upcoming shows.

Jeanie mentioned on last week’s post that there will be a three-episode sequel to The Other Bennet Sister at Christmas time. According to the BBC, the cast and crew are filming this summer in Wales for a story that will “explore what happens after the wedding bells fade and real life begins.”

Since I last wrote about Call the Midwife, the BBC announced that filming began on a three-part prequel series to be aired at Christmas time in 2026. The title is Call the Midwife: Sisters in Arms and the setting is World War II in the East End of London. I couldn’t find an announcement on when it will be available on PBS for those of us in the US.

I was thrilled to discover that the upcoming season of Only Murders in the Building is set in London, instead of its usual home in New York. The cast will include some of our favorite British actors, too, including:

• Martin Freeman (Seven Dials, Sherlock, Love Actually, The Black Panther)
• Derek Jacobi (I, Claudius, Cadfael, Last Tango in Halifax)

• Jodie Whittaker (Broadchurch, Attack the Block , Doctor Who, That Christmas)
• Jim Broadbent (Topsy-Turvy, the Paddington films, The Duke)
• Simone Ashley (Bridgerton)
• Matthew Beard (The Imitation Game)
• Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice of the Spice Girls)
• Anjana Vasan (Wicked Little Letters, We Are Lady Parts)
• Lesley Nicol (Downton Abbey)

Apparently, no one in the British Isles could resist an opportunity to work with Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez, not to mention Meryl Streep who is also slated to appear again in Season 6 of Only Murders in the Building. There’s been no confirmation on a release date but insiders are hoping for late 2026.
