Preparing for Paris 2024 #Olympics #SundaySalon
Happy Sunday! Sunday Salon is hosted by Deb at ReaderBuzz. Check out her post and the links to see what other bloggers have been up to in the last week.
How’s the weather?
We’ve had three delightful days with lower temperatures and, more importantly, less humidity. I avoided walking for a couple of weeks, but I just finished my third one in three days.
What are you reading?
I reviewed two books this week.
The Narrowboat Summer by Anne Youngson is about two middle-aged women at crossroads in their lives who end up piloting a narrowboat together. If a summer vacation along the canals of England sounds good, The Narrowboat Summer is a great way to experience it without expensive travel or jet lag.
Being Heumann: An Unrepentant Memoir of a Disability Rights Activist by Judith Heumann was our book club selection for this week. We had a great discussion. I was relieved that I wasn’t the only one who turned out to be nearly oblivious to the disability rights movement, even though it happened during my lifetime. I’m glad to have that knowledge, now.
What are you watching?
In preparation for the Olympics in Paris, I subscribed to Peacock and I’m watching the coverage that they produced over the last year or two leading up to the Olympics next week. The Opening Ceremony is on Friday and some competitions will begin on Wednesday. My intention is to watch more Olympics this year than I have since I was 14 and Nadia Comăneci was the highlight of the 1976 Olympics.
What are you doing?
Since I’m taking a month off of the manuscript for my novel, I’m playing around with my characters. We’re having fun together, sharing memories and answering goofy questions like “What do you daydream about?” and “What is your earliest memory?”
How are you this fine Sunday?
