I’m afraid I’m way too focused on the Cuba trip right now to have much to give for British Isles Friday, but it turns out that I found a fun book to read while I’m visiting Havana. Our Man in Havana is by famed 20th-century British author Graham Greene. It’s a black comedy about MI6 agents written and set in the late 1950s during the Batista regime in Cuba, a time of gangsters and corruption providing the conditions that led to revolution.
So, while I’m wandering around Havana, I’ll imagine walking in the footsteps of bumbling British spies. Should be fun!
I’d forgotten you’re going to Havana! Wow, what an exciting proposition. Can not wait to see your pictures and hear all about it!
I’m still taking my virtual walking tour of London, would love to make it a real trip one of these days!
My parents honeymooned in Havana in 1947. My Grand Parents would visit often in the 1950’s until they became worried. They thought Havana would be the new exotic Miami. I can’t wait to hear about your adventures and see your pictures.
This sounds like so much fun! I’ve only read Greene’s The End of the Affair, which was so sombre but excellently written.
