It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?
I was reading three or four other books, but they have all fallen by the way side while I read the 900 page chunkster Sarum by Edward Rutherfurd. I could use another seven-hour flight to get this done — that’s how I finished Ireland Awakening by the same author (Book Review: Ireland Awakening by Edward Rutherfurd). Sarum is similar in that it is a multi-generation, multi-family novel of a place — in this case, the area around Stonehenge in southern England. It begins in 7500BC. I’m about half-way through and we’ve just watched the rat arrive with the flea that carries the Black Death to England in 1348. I have a feeling this chapter won’t be as uplifting as the previous one that was about the building of the cathedral in Salisbury.

I love a big ol’ epic book 🙂 (I’m in the middle of Gone With the Wind right now) Are you enjoying this one so far? I hope so!
Have a great week of reading Joy!
The Relentless Reader
Oh, yeah! I’m loving it. It’s kind of like living in two places — in my house and in this amazing area thousands of miles away.
My favorite book this week was Ghouls Just Haunt to Have Fun by Victoria Laurie. Please come see what I’m reading now.
Those chunksters do require a significant time commitment…hope you enjoy this one.
MY MONDAY MEMES POST
I need to find out more about this book. Happy reading!
I read most of Sarum last year but put it to the side for another book and haven’t gotten back into it yet. I think I’ll restart it in the new year 🙂 Great choice of a book though. Rutherfurd is an amazing writer!
Check out my It’s Monday! post 🙂
