48 Hour Book Challenge and #blogjune
This weekend, I will be joining the Sixth Annual 48 Hour Book Challenge. My intention is to read from 1:00 pm on Friday until 1:00 pm on Sunday, with breaks for eating, sleeping, exercise, conversation with my husband, and other things.
48HBC has an option to use this challenge for charity. I feel strongly moved, at this moment, to help the Joplin Schools who lost so much, including the lives of 7 students and 1 staff member as well as the high school and other buildings, in the tornado of May 22. My donations will go to the Joplin Schools Tornado Relief Fund at the address on this page: Joplin Schools – Tornado Info. For each book I read, I will donate $10.
To give my readers a chance to contribute, for each unique commenter who comments on my blog (not counting the spammers) during my 48 Hour Challenge, between 1:00pm Friday and 1:00 pm Sunday CDT, I will donate a dime to the same cause. So join me this weekend making at least one comment, then check back on Sunday to see how we did!
For more bloggy, booky fun, the Australasian libraries are blogging every day in June and inviting the rest of us to play along: Blog Every Day of June — How to Follow the Fun.
So, if you are in the mood for joining things right now, I invite you to do any or all of these with me:
- participate in the 48 Hour Book Challenge
- donate to the Joplin Schools Tornado Relief Fund, or simply comment on my blog this weekend to increase my donation
- blog every day of June
I wish you the best of luck. I always love weekends devoted to reading!
I love it! I am in for the June challenge too…. Hmmmm, what to write about???

What a great challenge and a really great cause. I would love to participate but unfortunately this weekend is already spoken for getting my garage cleaned out for the impending move-in of my Mother-in-law (yes, my Mother-in-law is moving in with us this month-but let’s not talk about that). In honor of your challenge I will be happy to contribute the Joplin School Tornado Funds as well as comment during the weekend. Good luck and good for you.
Thanks, Martha! And, good luck with the cleaning and the new living arrangements.
Ah…so breaks for eating, hubby convos…yes. Good plan (adding to my remember to do list 🙂
