How’s the weather?

We finally got our break from excessive heat days, just in time for the fall equinox. I’m loving the cooler days and nights! Everything is still green here but I’m finding ways to get golds, oranges, and warm browns in my life — from clothing to markers in my sketchbook.

What are you reading?

I’m nearly finished with I Am Not a Robot: My Year Using AI to do (Almost) Everything by Joanna Stern — such a fascinating book to read with all of the AI news floating about. Speaking of which, Stern posted her recent interview with Mark Zuckerberg this week — no surprise that the topic of AI was raised:

I’m about half-way through The Right Sort of Man by Allison Montclair, a novel that is set in post-War London where the characters are dealing with rationing and trauma. I haven’t read many novels in this setting, so it’s illuminating.

I planned my reading for the autumn months and I’m very excited about the ten books that I came up with for my Top Ten Tuesday post.

As I have for several years, I devoted four posts this month to Agatha Christie and her works and times. Her birthday is the 15th of the month and September feels like a good time to read and watch Golden Age mysteries (especially in years when it’s a little cooler). Here are the ways that I explored mysteries this year:

• Review of Clouds of Witness by Dorothy L. Sayers
• Review of The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie
• Review and comparison of two TV adaptations of Sleeping Murder by Agatha Christie
• Review of the recent TV adaptation of Towards Zero by Agatha Christie

What are you watching?

I watched the recent TV adaptation of Towards Zero, an Agatha Christie novel. Part of the fun, for me, was researching the film locations. How would you like to stay in this hotel? Check the link for a great country house, too.

What are you doing?

I spent a good part of this week doing follow-up to our book club’s annual book selection meeting. The schedule has been made, facilitators assigned to each book, and the room is reserved. We’re ready for another great year of reading!
