  1. I really enjoyed this series too and I’m glad more episodes are in the offing. But I wish he had a different name! What I mean is that I’ve read many of the books (I save them all) and seen both the previous series (both are now on Britbox) so to me he is not “Maigret” as I have visualized him for so many years. Too young, too cute! And yet, I love the series, which is well written and beautifully filmed, and as you mentioned, the supporting cast all has a great deal to offer. So, I’ll keep watching but in my head he is Matthieu!

  2. I have not watched or read Maigret but you have me very interested! I am adding the books to Goodreads and looking for the streaming show as well. This is what I love about blogging, being introduced to new genres in books and movies,

  3. We have watched this series, as well as the one staring Rowan Atkinson. I have not read any of the books, however. I did a quick Wiki search on Maigret, and was amazed how many different programs (movies and TV) have been based on the mysteries! So many lead actors playing him: Michael Gambon, Richard Harris, Sergio Castellitto, Rupert Davies, Basil Sydney, to name just a few!

  4. Rupert Davies from the 1960s series will always be the real Maigret for me! It was recently revived on TV, and had a genuine period feel, as much of it was filmed in the old Paris.
