Winter Wonderland #SundaySalon
Happy Sunday! Sunday Salon is hosted by Deb at ReaderBuzz. Check out her post and the links to see what other bloggers have been up to in the last week.
How’s the weather?
We had our first significant snowfall on Saturday, waking up to a winter wonderland with a couple of inches of snow on the tree branches. Pretty! Fortunately, the temperature got up to 40 degrees and rain washed the roads, for the most part. It wasn’t too much of a problem for those of us who were able to stay inside, although there is some worry about refreezing that forms black ice over the next few colder days.
What are you reading?
My tradition on Black Friday is to review a book that will make a great gift for lovers of British-themed material. Check out this year’s selection: Mavericks: Life Stories and Lessons of History’s Most Extraordinary Misfits by Jenny Draper.
Did everyone enjoy Nonfiction November? Here are the books that I added to my TBR, recommended by book bloggers who participated in the event.
What are you watching or listening to?
We still have the final episode of Ken Burns’ The American Revolution to watch on PBS. After that, maybe the third season of The Diplomat or the second season of A Man on the Inside.
My favorite holiday movie this week was A Sprinkle of Christmas on Netflix. I wasn’t sure about it, at first, but then I recognized the plot of The Shop Around the Corner. The problem with that plot is that the hero has to do something pretty bad to get things rolling, so you have to stay with it to watch how he makes up for the original mean thing. A Sprinkle of Christmas is no You’ve Got Mail (the most famous of the remakes) but I enjoyed the modern way that they worked in the subplot that relies on anonymity.
What are you doing?
I’m looking forward to the virtual tour from London Walks called The London of Charles Dickens’ Christmas Carol. I received an email on Friday with the Zoom link for our meeting on Sunday afternoon (my time).
