Tornado #SundaySalon
Happy Sunday! Sunday Salon is hosted by Deb at ReaderBuzz. Check out her post and the links to see what other bloggers have been up to in the last week.
How’s the weather?
Deadly and destructive.
If you give to locally-run organizations during emergencies, let me share my local knowledge. I donated to Action St. Louis this morning. Action St. Louis, founded and led by a black woman, has people and infrastructure to quickly provide what is needed to the most vulnerable populations in our area. They already committed $20,000 to storm recovery. Any donations that they receive this weekend will be added to that amount.
What are you reading?
I’m attempting to solve my reading slump with One Day by David Nicholls. The fun structure of the book is that it checks in with two people on the same day each year over twenty years. At the moment, both characters are insufferable, self-absorbed twenty-somethings and I’m impatient with them. But, I suppose that’s the idea at this point of the story, so I’ll give it a bit longer before I give up on it.
What are you watching or listening to?
We celebrated my birthday with the colorful and magical Wonka!
I started streaming Miss Austen from PBS. I’m having the same problem at the beginning of this story, only the character of Cassandra Austen is old enough to know better than the ways she’s behaving. I am enjoying the flashbacks to when Jane was alive. So, I’m going to be patient about this story, too.
What are you doing?
While St. Louis was getting hit by a tornado, yesterday, I was distracted with a more personal situation. An in-law is dying in a way that was not unexpected but came up quickly in the end. As a more distanced relative, my role is transportation and child care. I did that yesterday evening and well into the night. I expect similar opportunities to crop up in the next few days.
How are you this fine Sunday?
