Last week, I took a virtual visit to Eilean Donan Castle in the Highlands of Scotland. Heather reviewed the Kat Holloway Mysteries–there are three books so far featuring an interesting viewpoint, the cook of an aristocratic household in the Victorian age. Tina mostly liked Miss Benson’s Beetle, the soon-to-be-released novel by Rachel Joyce. Jean is ready to give up on the author Walter de la Mare after reading The Return, which wasn’t as darkly thrilling as advertised.

Since we enjoyed our visit to a Scottish castle last week, I thought I’d look at another one this week. This one is about three hours south of Eilean Donan Castle and is situated near the longest sea loch in Scotland, Loch Fyne.

Inveraray Castle has been home to the family of the Duke of Argyll, chief of Clan Campbell, since the 18th-century. The current duke, Torquhil Campbell, spends time at this castle (in the half devoted to family quarters) but also has a home and business interests in London.

I’m enjoying travel, vicariously, these days. So I was thrilled to discover the Rick Steves’ Europe channel on YouTube. Here’s his visit to Inveraray Castle with a bit of its history, interiors, and displays of family portraits and Scottish weaponry.
