Book Expo America is this week in New York City. Those of us who didn’t make the trip are enjoying Armchair BEA. We’ve had assigned topics all week, but today we get to choose a topic of our own, so I thought I’d talk about the lovely intermingling of books, travel, and blogs. It’s not just BEA that you can explore through blogs, it’s anywhere in the world. For me, today, it’s Bath in England.
According to Rick Steves’ website, the best place to recover from jet lag in England is Bath — fly to Heathrow and immediately take a bus or train to Bath. So, that’s my plan for our trip. But then, I needed to start thinking about books and travel in and around Bath. Fortunately, these things just pop up here at British Isles Friday.
Jackie of Junk Boat Travels posted photos of Bath and a link to details about her day there, including the literary associations with Jane Austen and Charles Dickens. When I mentioned in comments our intention to stay in Bath, she also directed me to this recent restaurant and hotel review: The Pig near Bath.
A possible day trip from Bath is Bristol. Carole’s Chatter provided photos — that suspension bridge might be enough to draw us to Bristol.
What books would you read while planning a trip to Bath? What would you want to see when you got there?
