Sunday Salon — February 16
Time: // 9:40 am.
The scene: // I fell on the ice yesterday, so I’ll be glad to see all of this melt away. I thought it was going to be today, but it looks like it may be tomorrow that we see 40 degrees for the first time in weeks. I’m crediting #ReadersWorkouts with limited effects from my fall – being in shape and relatively limber helps. It also helped that I wasn’t willing to skip my workout yesterday (my 211th day in a row of exercise), so I did a bunch of stretching and I’m just a little achy this morning with no stiffness.
Listening to: // The English Baroque playlist compiled by Spotify user Michael Doe –it fits with my current reading.
Reading: // Newton by Peter Ackroyd, The Clockwork Universe by Edward Dolnick, and Quicksilver by Neal Stephenson – all about the scientists working in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. I’ve also started reading the DK Eyewitness Travel book, Great Britain, so I can plan sites to see related to the people and activities of that time period.
Blogging about: // Finally finishing my set-up of Google authorship using new Follow Buttons. Do the purple buttons in my sidebar look good to you? I’m always nervous about mucking around in my blog dashboard using html.
Participating in // A book discussion of The Memoir Project by Marion Roach Smith. It’s a short book so you have plenty of time to read it before our live Twitter chat, virtual book club, on February 28.
What are you up to this fine Sunday?
I’m glad to hear that things weren’t as bad as they could have been with that fall!! You really make me want to read The Clockwork Universe and Quicksilver right now. 🙂 I need to be patient and get this stack on books I’m working on out of the way first. Enjoy your Sunday!
Sorry you fell in the snow – the ER’s here are full of fall injuries. Stay safe and hope you recover soon!
I’m glad your fall wasn’t too serious! I am so tired of this winter weather here in the northeast! As far as reading, I love the cover of The Clockwork Universe, and it sounds so interesting! I may have to take a closer look, thanks for sharing!
The buttons look great.
We’re still trying to keep a close eye on Holly so that she doesn’t forget to go outside. I called my mother to wish her a happy birthday and I am going to spend the rest of the day quietly trying to organize things. That’s the plan anyway.
The buttons look great! Glad your fall wasn’t serious.
211 days of exercise is a great streak. You go!

Sorry your fell, but glad you had minimal damage!
I LOVE the purple buttons!! Purple is my favorite color!
I’ve never participated in a Twitter chat, so am leary about doing anything that involves that.
I hope you have a great week Joy!
I hate ice. I feel earlier in the winter and I didn’t really hurt myself, but it was wet… Glad you got off okay!
I love your new follow buttons – nicely done!
Most of my reading lately has been for my college class (Marketing for the Internet), but I’m also reading about a chapter a week of The Signature of All Things, which I’m really enjoying. I also read the Sunday edition of the New York Times, although it takes me all week to get through the sections I want to read.
