Snowpack #SundaySalon
Happy Sunday! Sunday Salon is hosted by Deb at ReaderBuzz. Check out her post and the links to see what other bloggers have been up to in the last week.
How’s the weather?
Our snow from last week stuck around since it stayed extremely cold. Our small road is snow-packed but the bigger ones are plowed out and dry, if a little narrow in spots. We’re expecting warm weather later in the week so we might get some melting. It’s a lot of snow to melt!
What are you reading?
I’m continuing to read Black AF History: The Un-Whitewashed Story of America by Michael Harriot for our February book club meeting. An interesting way to observe Black History Month, with a lot more irreverence and humor than most of our previous choices.
For fun, I’m enjoying Blind Date with a Werewolf by Patricia Briggs.
What are you watching or listening to?
We already finished the 10th season of Shetland. I was a little skeptical that this was going to work after they replaced their detective for Season 8, but I keep tuning in. I still find myself invested in the characters and the stunning land and seascapes. According to Shetland News, an 11th season is expected.
I’m enjoying the 10th, and final, season of Queer Eye on Netflix. I love spending part of my January watching other people improve their lives while I’m still experiencing New Year energy. I will miss that next year.
For British Isles Friday, I wrote up some thoughts about Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials, including some research about the filming location for the grand estate.
What are you doing?
I’m journaling every day with The Book of Alchemy: A Creative Practice for An Inspired Life by Suleika Jaouad. The book contains 100 brief essays, each followed by a creative prompt. The idea is to complete a 100-day journaling project by engaging with this material each day. I’m 12 days in as a write this on Friday. Several prompts generated deep thoughts or helpful insights. One prompt didn’t work that well for me, but it was interesting to explore why.
I’ve been doing this first thing in the morning, right after I fix a cup of tea. It’s a great way to start the day! Among other things, I get the satisfaction of counting another day completed toward my 100-day goal
