This is the time of year when it feels like being a Missourian can’t be beat. Warm days, cool nights, and hints of fall color.
What are you reading?
To celebrate the autumn equinox, I reviewed a series of seasonal graphic novels by Lucy Knisely that included Apple Crush set in the season of pumpkins and hayrides.
I started reading Jane Austen at Home by Lucy Worsley. I skimmed this book in 2018, but I decided to read the whole thing ahead of Jane Austen’s 250th birthday in December.
I just checked out Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver on Hoopla. I realized that I need to start it today if I’m going to finish before our October 16 book club meeting. If I read 5% of the book each day, I’ll finish it in time. It’s a big book!

I scheduled the book review for Confounding Oaths by Alexis Hall for my British Isles Friday post, but at the last minute I watched a video by my favorite London historian. She told the story about how British activists defeated a growing fascist movement in the 1970s, partially with rock-and-roll and reggae.
So, I posted about that video. The book review will appear in a couple of weeks.
