The Longest Manuscript to Date #SundaySalon
Happy Sunday! Sunday Salon is hosted by Deb at ReaderBuzz. Check out her post and the links to see what other bloggers have been up to in the last week.
How’s the weather?
I’m working to stay acclimated to warmer temperatures so that I can continue my walks on most days. So far, it’s been a gentle start to summer and will continue that way for a couple more days. Then, if the two-week forecast is to be believed, I either want to get acclimated to 90+ degree days or switch my walking time to mornings.
What are you reading?
I recently finished two of Alan Cumming’s memoirs as audiobooks. He was so much fun to listen to. Check them out if you are a fan of his work or enjoy hearing about show biz from behind the scenes.
My book group is reading Unmasking Autism by Devon Price, which works as a Pride Month book, too, since he interviewed many people at the intersection of autism and LGBTQ+. One thing that I’m learning is that some things that I was taught to put into boxed categories have fuzzy edges. At first, that’s disconcerting, but opening boxes turns out to be liberating.
My current e-book is The Narrowboat Summer by Anne Youngson. One of my pandemic passions was watching YouTube channels about narrowboat life on British canals, so I was pretty excited about this book. I’ve been saving it to enjoy during the summer weather.
What are you watching?
Hearing Alan Cumming talk about The Good Wife made me curious about that legal drama series, so we started watching it. We’re so used to mini-series, these days, that this feels like a big commitment — seven seasons with more than 20 episodes per season. So far, though, we’re enjoying the fun of watching two or three episodes a night and we already made it into the second season. The Good Wife originally aired on CBS and now streams on Paramount +.
Another reason that we thought we would like The Good Wife was that we recently enjoyed Elsbeth. That one is a mini-series, featuring a character that originated on The Good Wife.
What are you doing?
The manuscript of my novel grew to over 70,000 words. There were a couple of NaNoWriMo projects that I took to over 60,000 words. That makes this manuscript the longest thing that I have ever written. I’m only about three-quarters of the way through the plot, so there are more words on the way. This seemed like a good milestone to celebrate!
How are you this fine Sunday?
