Sunday Salon for 25 February 2024
Happy Sunday! Sunday Salon is hosted by Deb at ReaderBuzz. Check out her post and the links to see what other bloggers have been up to in the last week.
How’s the weather?
We’re getting all the seasons at once. We had the most snow of the season (more than predicted, so it required some workarounds) a week ago Friday. They’re predicting that we’ll reach 82 degrees this coming Tuesday.
What are you reading?
I started reading Day by Michael Cunningham. I understood that it’s a pandemic novel and I suspect that it will be, but I’m still in the first part where it’s a novel that digs deep into the rich inner lives of the characters. That’s not always comfortable, but it is fascinating.
What are you watching?
We liked Ten Percent, a British remake of a French show about a talent agency. Unfortunately, we didn’t feel like the story was done at the end of the first season, but it got cancelled so we won’t get to see any more.
I watched the fourth season of True Detective mostly because it starred Jodie Foster and was set during the polar night in Alaska. Rick gave up before the end of the second episode because it played too much like a horror show, but I was hooked so I kept going to the end. Not exactly pleasant viewing but intriguing.
What are you doing?
I went to an author event on Wednesday. It was my first crowd since I saw Wicked in early 2020. Here’s me, on the left, with a couple of other members of my book group and our new books, signed by the author.
And here is Brendan Slocumb, on the right, author of The Violin Conspiracy and Symphony of Secrets. He was Kirkwood Public Library’s One Author, One Kirkwood honoree this year. On the left is local journalist and celebrity, Alvin Reid. It was an entertaining evening with great stories.
Our book group loved The Violin Conspiracy and we’re all looking forward to reading Slocumb’s new book.
How are you this fine Sunday?
