Sunday Salon for 28 May — 11 Comments

  1. Good morning from cold wintry Ballarat.

It is a while since I have seen A night to remember but I think I liked it better than Titanic. I haven’t seen the Musical.

In Ballarat we have a bandstand dedicated to the band members on the Titanic. Each year on the anniversary a band plays there in memory of those that died.

    Regards

    • That’s a wonderful tribute. Long before the Titanic movie, I’d heard a story that the band played “Nearer my God to Thee” — so that’s my strongest association.

  2. The young Kate Winslet was definitely a great actress. Have you seen her in “Hideous Kinky”? It’s not what the title sounds like! Your list of films sounds neat.

  3. We’ve been barely hitting 70 here in So Cal. I hate it! I’m ready for my 80’s. It’s the end of May, after all.

I haven’t seen any of those movies. I’ve got to say, the Titanic depresses me too much, so I tend to stay away from stories about it.

  4. I love Kate Winslett and enjoyed seeing her in Mare of Easttown recently. Haven’t watched Titanic in ages but we own a copy.

Thanks for reminding me I have an Evernote account! Can’t believe it’s been years since I used it but that was when I used a computer daily. I could use it for reading goals and keeping track of my planting.

    • We just watched Mare of Easttown, too — that’s why we were thinking about Kate Winslet and the Titanic.

  5. I’ve had an Evernote account for years and use it sporatically. I use it to keep lists in a handy place – lists like where we’ve been on vacation and what year, books a friend recommends when we’re out and about, photography tips, art/crafting ideas but mostly for travel. I keep links of places we want to visit or things to do as I’m planning a trip so I don’t lose them and they’re easily accessible on my phone. It’s worked beautifully. Hope you find it helpful. Have a terrific week.

  6. You Can’t Be Serious and Something Fabulous both sound like good reads. I’ll look for your reviews.

I think Titanic is an amazing movie, but I was completely wowed by A Night to Remember, too. I ended up reading the book by Walter Lord, and it was fantastic as well. I have the book sequel to A Night to Remember and I plan to read it this year.

I’d love to hear more about how you use Evernote, Joy. Maybe you could tell us more about it in a future post.

  7. I’ve seen Titanic a few times but now I want to watch it again and also watch The Unsinkable Molly Brown which I think I’ve also seen before, and A Night to Remember which I don’t think I’ve seen.

I also want to read the two books by Walter Lord and have them in my library list.
