Reading Challenges 2018
I haven’t done reading challenges in a couple of years. But, I miss them. So, I’m going to join three for 2018.
Thanks to Heather of the Based on a True Story blog for a post about reading challenges that helped me find the ones I want to join.
First up is the challenge that Heather runs, Foodies Read 2018. I participated in earlier versions of this. Now, it’s set up as a monthly linky. That’s easy enough!
Next up, the British Books Challenge which fits nicely into British Isles Friday. The challenge is to read twelve books by British Authors in 2018, one a month. I have two books by British authors in my TBR stack, right now: Walking Jane Austen’s London by Louise Allen and What Regency Women Did for Us by Rachel Knowles. I also expect to read more in 2018 from Sharon Bolton, Jacqueline Winspear, and Ken Follett. And, I want to discover new authors from other participants in this challenge. The British Books Challenge is hosted by British blog, Tales of Yesterday, run by Chelle. It features prize packs, some of which are only available to British participants, but I’m in this for the interactions with other readers, so no worries about ineligibility by this Yankee.
Finally, I want to join the 2018 Nonfiction Reading Challenge at Doing Dewey. I’m going to challenge myself to read twelve books for this challenge, too. I’ve already finished one nonfiction book in 2018 — I just need to get around to reviewing it! I also want to start remembering to join the Nonfiction Friday event that Katie hosts at Doing Dewey more often — I think the challenge and the weekly event will go together nicely!
