Book Review: The Art of Eating In by Cathy Erway — 13 Comments

  1. I live in NYC and I don’t eat out a lot, but Cathy Erway definitely eats in better than I do. Checked out her blog and will be going back to it and her book for more good ideas. Thanks for this great information.

  2. Hmmmm… I do envy you Americans sometimes that eating out is so cheap. I only eat out about once a month, if I am lucky. Anyway this does sound like a great book 🙂 I love books that focus on the joy of home cooking 🙂

  3. I saw this book at Barnes and Noble and it caught my eye. I didn’t buy it, but after reading your post, I just might have to! I’m 25 (almost 26…), so you seem to suggest it will appeal to me! Excited 🙂

  4. I am fascinated by this one… in a busy life style it is hard to avid fast food and eating out (even when I know that its not the best for me). I try hard to do better at cooking at home but still find myself too busy and picking up subs at least every other week and the occasional pizza order…

    • Love your site and I’m jealous of your gouegors banner photo And I’m jealous you got to have lunch with Cathy Erway I reviewed her book for Bookslut, and it was head and shoulders above the usual food memoir. Really well written, interesting, and not a stunt book at all.

  5. This sounds like an interesting book. We don’t eat out much (I live in New Zealand), mainly because we’re saving for a holiday. I enjoyed the movie Julie and Julia. It was a fun movie, and I thought Merryl Streep was excellent.

  6. It sounds like an interesting glimpse into a lifestyle very different to mine. I think I’d relate better to a book called ‘The Art of Eating Out’. 🙂
