Progress of ParalympicsGB #BriFri
Welcome to British Isles Friday! British Isles Friday is a weekly event for sharing all things British and Irish — reviews, photos, opinions, trip reports, guides, links, resources, personal stories, interviews, and research posts. Join us each Friday to link your British and Irish themed content and to see what others have to share. The link list is at the bottom of this post. Pour a cup of tea or lift a pint and join our link party!
Last week, I reviewed The Diamond of London in honor of Lady Hester Stanhope’s birthday. Two books on Jeanie’s list of favorites in February were British, Murder at the Castle by Jeanne M. Dams is set during a Welsh music festival and an Agatha Christie novel, Peril at End House, featuring Poirot.
The ParalympicsGB team got on the medals table on Tuesday when alpine skier, Neil Simpson, won silver in Men’s super combined, visually impaired.
In curling, the mixed team had disappointing results. The mixed double pair did a bit better but just missed the playoffs. The BBC covered their exciting, but ultimately unsuccessful, journey. The photo of Jo Butterfield with her pink hair is worth clicking that link!
As I write this on Wednesday evening, there are still many events to go. The US is currently sitting second in the medal table behind China. Great Britain’s one medal puts it in the “also ran” category, but there’s still time to grab some more.
