Bellwether #SundaySalon
Happy Sunday! Sunday Salon is hosted by Deb at ReaderBuzz. Check out her post and the links to see what other bloggers have been up to in the last week.
How’s the weather?
We’re having a lot of rain, some accompanied by thunder, and wild variations in temperature. In other words, normal weather for March in Missouri.
What are you reading?
I finished Bellwether by Connie Willis. I couldn’t figure out what to call it last week, but now I know. This is satire, a send-up of popular fads and corporate America with the sly implication that those two things function exactly the same.
I rarely read satire, which is why it took me so long to identify it. So often, satire carries a cruel streak that I don’t like. But not in Connie Willis’s hands — there is delight and humor and a real appreciation for the human condition.
Bellwether was written and set in the 1990s. If you’re old enough to remember the nineties, this is a fun nostalgic trip to what now feels like a simpler time.
Next up, based on this recommendation from Sarah Can’t Stop Reading, I’m reading This Is Not a Book About Benedict Cumberbatch by Tabitha Carvan.
What are you watching or listening to?

Here’s an animated one without much plot but a message that I suspect many of us can relate to:
This one has a story and four characters, each given life through stellar performances of the actors:
Speaking of satire, here’s a fun one, especially if you’re a woman and a Jane Austen fan:
Have you seen other shorts that I should check out?
What are you doing?
Preparing for a trip to Jefferson City to talk to my legislators. You may remember that I went last year. It’s easier the second time! We’re going on Tuesday — wish us luck!
