Garden Cress in Britain and Missouri #BriFri — 11 Comments

  1. You will also see rocket on many British menus. According to BBCGoodFood.com – Rocket is a very ‘English’ leaf, and has been used in salads since Elizabethan times. It has a strong, peppery flavour, and the leaves have a slight ‘bite’ to them. If you see ‘rucola’ or ‘arugula’ for sale or on a restaurant menu – it’s the same thing.

  3. I love cress! You can get it some parts of the year around here at Trader Joe’s, and I like to put it on my salads for some extra flavor. Best of luck with your harvesting!

  4. The entire time I was reading your post, I was thinking about water cress and how it’s delicious on sandwiches and pizzas….then I learn that cress is not the same thing! I had no idea…thank you for teaching me something! The egg sandwich sounds yummy – I bet the cress adds some nice freshness to the rich egg.

  5. Love your hashtag, #BriFri! How clever! I just finished listening to Life After Life by Kate Atkinson on audio. Very English and wonderful, if you haven’t read it!
