Book Pairings #NonfictionNovember

Week 3 of Nonfiction November is hosted by Liz at Adventures in reading, running and working from home.

This week we are asked to pair up a nonfiction book with a fiction title.

I’m currently reading Her Lost Words by Stephanie Marie Thornton, a historical novel about Mary Wollstonecraft (A Vindication of the Rights of Women) and Mary Shelley (Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus).

I was thrilled to discover a perfect pairing during Week 1 of Nonfiction November.

Frances of Volatile Rune shared In Search of Mary Shelley: The Girl who Wrote Frankenstein by Fiona Sampson.

Now, can someone recommend a biography of Mary Wollstonecraft? I know even less about her than I do about Mary Shelley.

I put both books by Fiona Sampson on my TBR list on GoodReads.

I read Romantic Outlaws: The Extraordinary Lives of Mary Wollstonecraft and Mary Shelley by Charlotte Gordon with my JASNA book club in 2015 and thought it a 5-star book.

In looking her up just now, I see “The Collected Letters of Mary Wollstonecraft” was published in 2003. I think that would be a fascinating insight into her life!

Another fiction title to consider is Mary or, the Birth of Frankenstein by Anne Eekhout. I have it on my TBR – it sounds fascinating.
