  1. That sounds like a really fascinating read. I know a little of it, of course, but not in-depth. Yes, we had a real problem with what do with our criminals after you lot decided you could live without us; so we gave them to Australia, mostly 🙂 I wonder, do we (or you) have a classless society now? Somehow, I doubt it, though I’d like to think it’s more of a meritocracy than it was in the 17th century. Given your love of books, this week I’ve linked to a bit about Bateman’s, Rudyard Kipling’s house in Sussex for you.
