My first MOOC! #CompassionateSunday — 11 Comments

  1. I have been interested in MOOC courses for several years now. I’d love to hear updates as you continue your pursuit of religious literacy in this format.

  2. I’ve been interested in MOOCs. A co worker got a college degree online but I know this would be different. I’ll also be interested in your experience.

  3. Oh the MOOC course sounds so interesting! I haven’t heard of this before and I’m going to have to check it out now. I look forward to reading your thoughts on the course as you go through it too! And it is great that you can audit the course for free.

    Thanks for sharing!

  4. My friend Donna and I signed up for this Harvard Course on Religious Literacy on February 20th. Together we did an earlier Harvard online course on JUSTICE with several other people who met in my home once a week to discuss what we were reading. If you would be interested in discussing the course with us, let me know. I’ll send you my cell phone number by email.

  5. Thanks for informing me about MOOC courses. I had not known about this. What does one have to do for the course work? Reading assignments and listening to lectures or what? thanks. I’m curious.

    • The class format looks like it will be mostly short videos, interactions on a discussion forum, short written lectures, articles. The advertised effort was 3 hours a week. I spent more than that today! Clearly, I’m going to want to read and respond to fewer discussion forum posts if I want to keep the time more manageable.

  6. I’ve decided to follow along with you this year, Joy. I just signed up for MOOC too. It appeals to me as a great fit for this year of understanding compassion. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

P.S. I love your first reaction – making a list of books to read! It was my reaction too.
