Stepping and Stretching #ReadersWorkouts
Welcome to Readers’ Workouts, the weekly event where book lovers share workout stories, goals, successes, and challenges.
I didn’t make my August goal of exercising for 1400 minutes, but I got to 1300 minutes so I’m pretty happy with that.
For September, I’m formatting my goal a bit differently since travel will be a feature of the month. Instead of minutes, I’ll use my FitBit and count steps. My goal is to get to 8000 steps a day. I’d also like to stretch for 15 minutes most days because I think that will help me function well this month. So, I’m setting my goal as 8000 steps and/or 15 minutes of stretching a day — with the hope that I actually manage both most days.
How did your August go? What are you looking forward to in September with your exercise?

I have learned at age 61 that I must stretch out before and after the workout. If I don’t do it, I have hip issues for sure. Thanks for the encouragement and reminders, Joyce!
1300 minutes sounds like you did great.
September’s pretty much going to look like August, except with some longer runs. I’m doing another 5K this Saturday with my husband, who is not a big fan of running.
I’ve got a brief update and pictures from The Color Run this weekend.
I have to reevaluate my stretching. I’m pretty sure it was a bad stretch that kicked off my back problems this month.
1300 minutes is amazing! You inspire me every week!
I’m working on finding a way of tracking that works the best for me. I still don’t know if it’ll be by the minutes, what I did specifically each workout, or a combination of both. I’m trying different ways and hope to have it figured out by next week.
I had the day off on Tuesday and went walking around Powder Valley park, the trails were slippery but it was so nice to be outside and around green stuff.
Sparring lesson today was another episode of the “things you have to do simultaneously while sparring”: breathe, keep your eyes open, observe your opponent AND think the best move to hit them with. It’s difficult stuff.
I love walking at Powder Valley! It is easier much easier when the pavement and wood bridges are dry.
