London Under by Peter Ackroyd #BookReview #BriFri — 16 Comments

  1. Looks like Rob and I are going to London sometime in September. Or early October. I am going to start watching a lot of British films and/or films starring British actors (or at least people pretending to be British when I’ve run out of the others).

So many things to do between then and now. Currently waiting for the arrival of my passport. Yay!

  2. This book sounds fascinating! Oh… and p.s. Rick Steves ANYTHING is awesome. I love his pocket guide books for hauling around with you on the trip. 🙂

  3. Lucky you! To have three weeks in England would be heaven. We went last summer but for a short trip. Even that was eye-opening, seeing all the sights read about over the years. Have a great time!

  4. I have been interested in Peter Ackroyd’s writings on London for some time now, but London: A Biography has been languishing on my TBR list due to its immense size. I’m happy to see this book is a much more manageable size! I love the book Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman, which is set primarily in a fantasy version of underground London. I hope my library has this book as I’d like to learn more.

  5. This book sounds so interesting! I think I’ll have to read it the next time I go to London so I can really understand some of the history of the underground. And it’s always fascinating to read about the history and then see it! Great review Joy, I definitely need to keep up with this feature because I love England and it’s history! 🙂
