  1. I thought you might like to read my review of a historical fiction book I read several years and really loved. Set in England in the 13th century when King John had fallen out with the Pope. Because of this the Pope had denied the people the full rites of the Catholic Church which meant the priests could not carry out services such as baptisms or last rites for the dying.
    It was a fascinating read, well written with memorable characters.
    The Gallows Curse by Karen Maitland. I hope you get the chance to read it sometime.

  5. I really liked this book. I was flying from Hong Kong to Kuala Lumpur when I read this book. The hour was late and it was a moonless, cloudless night. The stars were shining brighter than I had ever seen them before. The setting made the book even more memorable.

    Perhaps that is why it has stayed with me all these years…
