Top 10 Book Characters Who Live in London #Top10Tuesday — 12 Comments

  1. I love this! You just took me on a little trip to visit some loved characters. Sat here reading this post and thinking, “Oh! I LOVE that character!” for most of them.

  2. Since you have Changeless on your list, let me introduce you to Feckless, Graceless, Aimless, and Pointless — who happen to be four cows in a book set in England, though not in London. Cows don’t usually live in big cities. Actually, I came to your blog to share a review by another book blogger friend: http://www.caribousmom.com/2014/04/22/cold-comfort-farm-book-review/

I couldn’t resist the “useless” list of cows, since you mentioned a book title with “-less” in it. I wasn’t particularly fond of Cold Comfort Farm, but it’s a book I’m glad I read. For that reason, I recommend it to you, and it does fit in nicely with the British Isles books you are reading.

By the way, St. Louis had beautiful weather last week while I was there. I hope to move sometime in mid-June, if an apartment becomes available by then.

  3. The cool thing about this week’s TTT is seeing what everyone’s decision is for the type of character to do. I like your idea, but I probably couldn’t come up with ten London characters just from memory. I do remember in the beginning of A Study in Scarlet the “seemingly endless” part describing how Watson & Holmes decide to – and become – roommates. 🙂

  4. What a great idea to choose characters from London. I love that town, used to live not far away from it.

Thanks for stopping by my page earlier. That’s how I found you. Following you now and looking forward to more interesting posts.

    Have a good week,

  5. 82, Charing Cross is a big favourite of mine. Love walking down that street when I’m in London.
Bridget Jones – I just want to live in London.

  6. Ah, you forgot about the dark side – Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street from The String of Pearls, Dr Jekyll’s alter-ego Mr Hyde, and Bill Sykes from Oliver Twist! Be careful in those quiet alleyways! 😉

  7. Sherlock Holmes and Bridget Jones are the only characters I’m familiar with. I’ve read A Study in Scarlet (tho sadly the only one I’ve read- maybe next week’s British Isles Friday post!) and I saw the movie Bridget Jones’ Diary, but have not read the book. I’ve read Little Princess, but it was when I was younger and I really don’t remember the book very much to be honest.

I want to read Mrs. Dalloway and Neverwhere, too!
