Anglophile Fridays — questions for Bloggiesta and Sunday Salon bloggers — 26 Comments

  1. I haven’t seen one! I probably wouldn’t have too many to add, but I do have a few older posts about Harry Potter that are strictly England-based (making authentic fish and chips after reading a few English authors, visiting the Warner Brothers HP studios in London. . .). I think it’s a great idea!

  2. I’ve not seen something like this. And yes, I would participate! Or at least try to now and then. How’s that for commitment?! πŸ™‚ Happy Bloggiesta by the way. Sorry I don’t comment more often here. But I am lurking a lot!

  3. I’ve not come across anything like this Joy – sounds a good idea. Would be even better if those of us from other parts of the UK could participate. Can I make a plea please??

    • Of course! Do I have to change the name? For some reason, I just love the word Anglophile. But I would change it if it’s offensive. I would be happy to include a little geography lesson in each post to make it clear that I know and others should know that Wales and Scotland and Northern Ireland are not England, but this meme welcomes post about all four.

  4. I would find ways to participate. I do read a lot of British books, my family is all still in England, and I lived there when I was younger. πŸ™‚ I am moving right now so I am not being to active online but that should settle down after May 1st

  5. I love this idea! The Victorian Era is one of my favourites and though not English (being from Ireland), Oscar Wilde is one of my favourite authors ever. I would definitely participate when I can… I have been thinking about re-reading some of my favourite classics and reviewing them after all…

  6. I like the idea and would definitely participate. My only comment is that there already seems to be a lot of memes on Fridays – maybe another day would be better? Or is that just me? But go for it. I know lots of people will take part.

  9. I think this is a great idea too. I wouldn’t be able to participate every week, but am certain that I could from time to time. Makes me think someone should do an Australian one…… (but I don’t have the time, maybe in the future if someone else doesn’t do it).

  14. Well guess what! I’ve been doing a regular Anglophile Friday post on my blog since about 2010. Just today i did a search on Anglophile to see if there was anyone out there who is also doing this. And for the commenter who mentions British, my understanding is that Anglophile actually refers to all of the UK, not just England. Check out my Anglophile Friday. Nice to find you!
