Writing Books — 7 Comments

  1. Sadly, I own about ten writing books. I do own Bird by Bird and see it in your stack makes me want to re-read it. Writing Down the Bones is a great classic.

  2. Wow! I only own one, Bird by Bird and I think it was Vasilly’s fault that I bought it. I haven’t read it yet though.

Whenever I look for writing books I get overwhelmed by what’s out there. Plus I think I’m still a little scared of the actual writing part so I never want to do the exercises etc. Something to work on.

  4. I have a few of these and even read some of them. I haven’t read Writing the Wave or the self-editing book. And I’m almost positive I have Writing Yourself Home, although I don’t see it on my list of books. It is probably on a shelf somewhere and I either didn’t type it in or I forgot to type it in.

  5. Thank you sooo much. I used to own and love “The writer’s little helper.” I am working on a writing project and have looked everywhere for it. All I had were notes I scribbled in my notebook and a faint memory of it being a small book. No author, no title…nothing. This weekend I drove from St Louis to Kansas City and looked in every bookstore along the way – no luck. So today I googled writing book – images and you came to my rescue. Thank you Joy.

I have read about 1/3 of your collection. None of them give you the nuts and bolts in an easy to read and use format like the Writer’s little helper.

    • Writer’s Little Helper has a great structure for organizing stories that I have bookmarked permanently so that I can find it quickly!
