Readers’ Workouts — March 19

We were out of town for a long weekend, but I got in a little walking and did some stretches in the hot tub. I’m only twenty minutes behind pace to reach 1400 minutes by the end of the month. Not bad for mid-month, I’m thinking.
For the 12 K Challenge at Team Kickin It, I’ve been aiming for two workouts a week this month. My Tuesday workout is 4K total with the two middle kilometers done as HIIT. My Thursay workout is 2K on the treadmill — that’s the workout that will eventually get to 12K if all goes as planned.
With a weird week planned, I went ahead and did my HIIT workout yesterday and it went well. I have my speed up to what it was last month when I was only doing 1K of HIIT. Next week, I hope to nudge the speed up a bit further. Mind you, a trainer would laugh at what I’m calling High Intensity. But that’s why I don’t have a trainer. I know that I can make excellent progress with my fitness, and have no injuries, as long as I do things gently and gradually. It’s when I get in too much of a hurry that I get in trouble.
How is your March shaping up? Are you ready to go out like a lion? ROAR!
I hope you had a lovely long weekend. Hot tub usually has an element of bliss and relaxation associated with it, I hope you had both!
Lately I have been preoccupied with the weather, it’s distracting! I can’t wait to run outside in the morning, without adding gear.
Good luck this week – stay focused and do the work :).
ps: when is your big trip? Next month?
I was’t brave enough to take on the 12k challenge. I’m happy working very slowly toward running a whole 5k. I’ll re-evaluate when I get there. That said, I cannot wait for warm weather so I can go running outside again! I hope you had a nice long weekend!
I agree with you 100% about going easy and gradually adding more! Starting with too long times or too much weight, or to much anything, can cause more damage than good and set you way back!
Good for you, Joy! That’s an amazing thing to commit to!
I am pleased to say that incorporating dance into my weekly workout has revitalized exercise for me. I love the 90-minute class itself, and it gives me the “oomph” i need to hit the gym two more times throughout the week in order to get my strength and stamina up so I can keep improving at dance.
Yay! Dance really works for me when nothing else will get me moving.
