New Year’s Resolution Reading Challenge — 33 Comments

  1. You got me thinking about resolutions a bit earlier than I normally do, and I have a few beyond my annual vow not to stab anyone. I’ve ordered the book, I think it’ll be useful in helping to establish a couple of positive habits.

  2. Joy, this is a fantastic challenge! I wasn’t going to join any challenges next year but I can’t pass this one up. I’ve already started reading. 🙂 Thanks for doing this.

  4. I’ve gotten into the habit of making New Year’s Resolutions over the last several years and enjoy the challenge of self improvements. I take it lightly–more like goals or objectives.. things to keep me on path so to speak. I don’t beat myself up over them, which I think helps keep it fun. I’ll be thinking of my 2013 goals over the next couple of weeks.. and will see if there are books to help me. If so, I’ll definitely join in because I LOVE this challenge. My books will likely be health & nutrition related. Last year I read Crazy, Sexy Diet by Kris Carr and it gave me a lot to think about and aim for. I’ll probably read something similar in 2013.

    • Crazy, Sexy Diet looks good, thanks! I requested it from the library.

I agree that New Year’s Resolutions are best taken lightly with a big dose of fun!

    • I’ve been thinking about making a post about books that support writing resolutions. Do you have any favorites?

  8. What a great reading challenge, Joy! I think I might join the readalong, as I have The Power of Habit in audio but haven’t gotten around to reading it yet. I like the idea of pairing resolutions with books – will definitely have to think about joining this one, even though I’m generally so awful with reading challenges.

  14. My goal is to have a successful business this year. In that vein, I’m reading:
    1. Spirit Driven Success (Dani Johnson)
    2. Creative, Inc (Meg Mateo Ilasco)
    3. Read Their Mind (Sandi Krakowski)
    4. 48 Days To the Work You Love (Dan Miller)

I am in the process of pondering how to revamp my site & blog, so I don’t have a post for this, but I did link to my Pinterest pin of this challenge. Looking forward to reading these 4 books!

    • Great goal, Amanda! Those sound like terrific books. I’m looking forward to hearing more about them.

  20. I finally made mention of the New Year’s Resolution Reading Challenge on my blog since I finally went to library and found some books which I hope will inspire me to improve myself this year. I already read one of the books.. it was short, cute and just the right bit of inspiration to dive into the rest of the books.

    Good luck everyone!

  22. Thank you so much, Joy, for hosting this FABULOUS challenge!

I have not had the chance to post about all of the book challenges I plan on participating in this year as of yet – but I DID post about yours today in my Friendship Friday column since it fit in with today’s theme – One Small Step (towards your Goals & Resolutions!)

I look forward to sharing my books with you, and I hope you will join us for Friendship Friday!
