Book Blogger Appreciation Week — Reading — 13 Comments

  1. This is so true! I feel like I’m reading on deadline all the time. Sometimes I like it because it helps me review books in a timely manner, and sometimes I find it totally exhausting. Like now, when I have a million library books out that have to go back all at about the same day… I end up missing deadlines all the time.

  2. I am TOTALLY borrowing your sticky-notes-on-the-spine idea. Love it! Is that the new Philippa Gregory nonfiction I see there on the top? If so, that one just came in the mail for me yesterday.

I am finding I’ve gotten myself into too many deadlines this fall. Library due dates I don’t mind, because no one is waiting for me to read those books and I can always get them out again. Readalongs and book clubs I love participating in, so I don’t mind reading those. I think it’s the review copies that will have to give for me…I’ll just have to be more careful about what I accept!

    • Good eye — it is the Philippa Gregory nonfiction on top. I’m enjoying it, but with hayfever, I’ve put it aside while I read mass market paperbacks by favorite authors. Who needs comfort food? I have comfort reading!

  3. The deadline aspect is the only part of book blogging that is negative for me. Of course it’s my own fault. I need to learn to say no more often. I like the stickies on your books. Good idea.

  4. I think blogging about books has forced me to pay more attention to what I am reading. I tend to read very quickly and skim over “slow” sections of a book. Blogging has forced me to pay more attention to what I read instead of blazing through.

  5. Oh the Phillipa Gregory’s have caught my eye. Do love historical fiction.
I have read some of her work and have more on my own TBR shelves.

I always put a piece of paper inside the book to say when received, when release date is and order the books on a different shelf from my own books
